  • Intake Manifold

    Full throttle, meet 95 mm of wide open power.

    Combined with greater displacement, the larger 95 mm throttle body works in unison with the high velocity intake ports of the tunnel ram intake to dramatically increase torque and horsepower. The throttle is over 9% larger than its predecessor, decreasing flow losses given the improved restriction in the throttle body itself. Air rushes in and fills the intake faster for better throttle response, enabling higher top end power and significantly increased torque at all engine speeds. That includes low engine speeds for more spirited, yet controlled driving conditions.

  • Piston Displacement

    Torque and power have a new standard.

    The LS6 engine is the culmination of years of innovation. A longer stroke — from 92 mm to 100 mm — pushes displacement from 6.2L to 6.7L, delivering a surge of power and torque you can feel and hear.

    Every firing event doesn’t just move you — it sends a pulse through your chest that reminds you you’re alive. Every drive is a reminder of how far we’ve advanced. After all, there truly is no replacement for displacement.

    The LS6 engine stands out from the competition with an unprecedented 13.0:1 compression ratio, the highest ever for a Corvette V8.
    More energy goes directly from gasoline into torque and power thanks to the thermal efficiency of the higher compression ratio. This means less waste in the form of exhaust gas temperature.

  • Fluid Management

    The perpetual cycle of incremental innovations.

    Engineers employed systems 44x times the computational speed of those from previous engine developments to dive deeper into overall enhancements.
     

    A dual fuel system manages direct injection with port fuel injection, allowing the LS6 to operate in an optimal state at all times, balancing emissions with torque and horsepower improvements.


    The continuously variable oil pump allows for optimal oil pressure in all conditions. Paired with lube system advancements and forged pistons and rods, the LS6 is upgraded for overall lower end robustness and peak operation in any driving condition.

The original Corvette Grand Sport debuted in 1963 as a secret, lightweight racecar developed to challenge the international sports car racing scene. Only five vehicles were built before the program was halted. The nameplate returned in 1996 as a limited-edition production model to celebrate the final year of the fourth generation Corvette. Reintroduced as a permanent model in 2010, it combined the base Corvette engine with the wider body and components from the high-performance Z06. The most recent version was released for the 2017 model year. Like the C6 version, it utilized the wider Z06 chassis and aerodynamics paired with the standard naturally aspirated V8 from Stingray.
